The Esplanade Building on the Cambridege Parkway sits at the edge of the Charles River, offering breathtaking water views, and the tenant of this two bedroom condo, sought out a designer who could create an interior space as tranquil as it's surroundings. "She wanted a place where she could retreat", says Dennis Duffy, owner of Duffy Design Group, Inc. "Something casual and natural, but not sterile or too designed." Duffy first stained the floors and put in new mouldings. He then filled the living room with furniture that would create a loungelike setting where the homeowner could relax with friends. The sofa, amoung other pieces, are purchased from Duffy's studio DScale, the rest were handpicked from the designer's favorite shops. Duffy commisioned a ivory, silk square pendant lamp from Bone Simple Design in New York and selected a modern glass coffee table from Bo Concept in Cambridge, to anchor the room. He then chose unique accents pieces, including a raw wooden end table from Suite New York. Finally he added such bohemian touches as a vintage Murano orange and white glass sculpture form DScale and three acrylic art pieces by Carrie McGee from Newbury Street's Lanoue Fine Art Gallery. Duffy says his work earned raves from the client. "There were no revisions"
